Fire and water side by side are the draw of the Maya: a liquid propane flame beside a sheet of water spilling over a copper scupper. The Outdoor Plus makes it as a handcrafted square bowl of glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), in three sizes and 18 finishes, with Match Lit or Low Voltage Electronic Ignition.
GFRC, or glass fiber reinforced concrete, is concrete strengthened with fine glass fibers and shaped by hand, so each piece carries its own subtle variation in color and texture.
Key Features
-
Fire and water in one bowl. A liquid propane burner sits in a stainless steel pan, and the water falls over a copper scupper.
-
Three sizes. 24" square by 10.75" high, 30" square by 10.25" high and 36" square by 12" high.
-
Eighteen finishes. Chosen with the swatches above.
-
Two ignition choices. Match Lit, or Low Voltage Electronic Ignition.
-
Made to mount. A mounting bracket secures the bowl to a pillar or wall.
-
A 3/4 inch water inlet. The scupper has a 3/4 inch fitting for the water supply line.
What's Included
- The bowl, fire pan, burner, 1/2 inch whistle-free hose, gas orifice, mounting bracket and lava rock (3 inch opening)
- With Low Voltage Electronic Ignition: the electronic ignition system as well
- Not included: the propane cylinder, supplied by the customer, a canvas cover, a stainless steel bullet burner, the water supply line, and the gas supply line, which are sold separately or supplied by the installer

Material: glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) bowl; the pan and burner are 304 stainless steel
Fuel: liquid propane
Water connection: 3/4 inch fitting on the scupper; the scupper is 8 inches and 10 inches wide
Ignition options: Match Lit, Low Voltage Electronic Ignition
Certification: ANSI Z21.97-2017 / CSA 2.41-2017 on the 12V electronic ignition
Clearance to combustibles: keep 36 inches clear of structures and combustibles and 96 inches overhead, as The Outdoor Plus's manual requires
Ignition System
Low Voltage Electronic Ignition need a GFCI-protected outlet; Match Lit need no electrical power.
-
Match Lit: Lit by hand with a burning lighter or match held near the burner.
-
Low Voltage Electronic Ignition: Electronic ignition run from a low voltage transformer (input 100 to 277 volts, 3.0 amps; output 30 volts, 240 watts). Connect the transformer to a GFCI-protected outlet and place it at least 5 feet from the fire feature, pool, spa or any water source, as The Outdoor Plus's manual requires. One transformer can power up to four fire features.
Installation Readiness
This bowl runs on liquid propane, from a cylinder the customer supplies, connected with the gas hose. The scupper needs a water supply line (3/4 inch inlet), and the bowl mounts to a pillar or wall with its bracket and anchors rated for the material. Low Voltage Electronic Ignition also needs a GFCI-protected outlet, and Match Lit needs no electrical power.
Care and Use
- Inspect the bowl before each use and have a qualified service person inspect it at least once a year.
- Keep the bowl covered when it is not in use, and keep its interior clean and free of debris.
- Do not use the bowl if any part has been under water: call a qualified service technician to inspect it first.
- Use liquid propane only, never another fuel such as ethanol, and never a propane appliance on natural gas.
