The Eaves is a low, linear fire pit designed to integrate into walls and ledges, putting a long ribbon of flame at the edge of a seating area. The Outdoor Plus builds it in Corten steel, a weathering steel that develops a rust-colored patina outdoors, so its appearance changes over time, in three lengths from 48 to 72 inches for natural gas.
Key Features
-
Corten steel. A weathering steel that develops a rust-colored patina outdoors, so its appearance changes over time.
-
Three lengths. 48, 60 and 72 inches, each 10 inches wide and 10 inches high.

Material: Corten steel, a weathering steel that develops a rust-colored patina outdoors; its appearance changes over time. Corten is the only finish on this page.
Pan and burner: 304 stainless steel, with a standard 2 inch pan depth
Fuel: natural gas
Gas connection: 1 1/2 inch access for the natural gas line
Ignition options: Match Lit, Match Lit with Flame Sense, Fire Glow, Low Voltage Electronic Ignition, Plug & Play
Certification: ANSI Z21.97-2017 / CSA 2.41-2017 on the electronic ignition units
Clearance to combustibles: keep 48 inches clear at the sides and back and 96 inches overhead, as The Outdoor Plus's Fire Pit Manual requires
Ignition System
Low Voltage Electronic Ignition and Plug & Play need a GFCI-protected outlet; Match Lit, Match Lit with Flame Sense and Fire Glow need no electrical power.
-
Match Lit: Lit by hand with a long lighter or match held at the burner.
-
Match Lit with Flame Sense: The pilot is lit by hand. After it lights, keep the valve knob pressed for 20 seconds so the thermocouple can heat up, as The Outdoor Plus's manual instructs.
-
Fire Glow: Spark ignition with a flame sense pilot, powered by one AA battery, as The Outdoor Plus's manual describes it. Press the spark switch in short bursts until the pilot lights, then keep the valve knob pressed for 20 seconds, as The Outdoor Plus's manual instructs.
-
Low Voltage Electronic Ignition: Electronic ignition run from the low voltage transformer The Outdoor Plus provides (input 100 to 277 volts, 3.0 amps; output 30 volts DC, 240 watts). Connect the transformer to a GFCI-protected outlet, as The Outdoor Plus's manual requires.
-
Plug & Play: Electronic ignition with a three-prong plug. Plug it into a GFCI-protected outlet, as The Outdoor Plus's manual requires.
Installation Readiness
This fire pit runs on natural gas, which needs a permanent gas connection, and a licensed gas professional makes that connection following The Outdoor Plus's instructions. Low Voltage Electronic Ignition and Plug & Play also need a GFCI-protected outlet, and the other three ignition options need no electrical power.
Care and Use
- Let the fire pit cool completely before cleaning. Spray the enclosure with water and wipe it dry, and do not spray water directly onto the burner or the igniter.
- Clean the burner periodically with a soft wire brush, and check it for insects and debris.
- Check the gas connection for leaks before each use, and have a qualified field service person inspect and clean the fire pit at least once a year.
- When the fire pit is not in use, turn off the gas at the source and cover it once it has cooled.
- Use natural gas only: never charcoal or other solid fuel. Do not cook on the fire pit, and do not use it in windy conditions.
- Keep decorative media no more than 1 inch above the burner, and use only media rated for fire.
