The Outdoor Plus Avalon GFRC Water Bowl

Moving water adds sound and light to a patio. The Outdoor Plus Avalon water bowl is a handcrafted square bowl of glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) that sends a clear sheet of water over a copper spillway, in three sizes from 24 to 36 inches and eighteen finishes.

GFRC, or glass fiber reinforced concrete, is concrete strengthened with fine glass fibers and shaped by hand, so each piece carries its own subtle variation in color and texture.

Installation Readiness

A water bowl needs a water supply line to its 1 1/2 inch fitting and a column or wall to be secured to. It needs no gas and no electrical power of its own.

Care and Use

• Before each use, remove debris from the bowl and keep the water fitting free of debris so the water flows properly.
• Where temperatures fall below freezing, drain the bowl before the freeze: water left in the line can expand and burst it, as The Outdoor Plus's manual warns.
• Every six months, check every connection that uses silicone or epoxy, and give the copper spillway a slight tug: a loose spillway can be knocked off by the water flow.
• Once a year, turn the water feature on to confirm it works.
